Skin Tags can be quite embarrassing for many people especially if they are in visible areas, but most people choose to ignore it. Skin tags can occur on the eyelids, under breasts, the groin area, under the arms, or on the neck.

skin tagsSkin tags or Acrochorda are harmless and typically painless. Skin tags may become irritated by shaving, clothing or jewelry.

There are many different ways to remove skin tags such as surgical treatments using a scalpel and may result in scarring. The do-it-yourself methods done at home using tools such as dental floss, nail clippers or scissors which can lead to bleeding, potentially compromising the skin and painful.

There are herbal remedies to treat skin tags. Herbal remedies are less invasive than other “fast” remedies although they take a little more time and consistency in order for them to work. On your side, patience and perseverance will help.

Another method to try to remove skin tags involves the use vitamin E from a capsule. Pierce the vitamin E capsule with needle. Be careful not to prick your self. Apply the vitamin E oil to the skin tag and the surrounding skin. Cover the skin tag with a cloth type band aid strip. The vitamin E is good for your skin. The Band-Aid will kill off the blood supply to the skin tag, and it will fall off in a day or two depending on the size of the skin tag. Reapply more vitamin E oil, and another small Band-Aid the next day. This should take care of the pesky skin tag, and the surrounding skin.

Tea Trea Oil- Tea tree oil works very well for removing skin tags as well as moles. In fact, tea tree oil is used on various skin disorders in the cosmetic industry. To use this treatment for your skin tag, all you need is a little tea tree oil and a cotton ball. Soak the cotton ball in the oil and apply it directly to the affected area. Do this once or twice daily for up to 4 weeks or until the skin tag vanishes.

Castor Oil- This oil was used on a wide variety of common ailments and can be taken both internally and externally. Don’t scream, you won’t have to drink it to remove skin tags. You will be using castor oil as an external ointment. Here is what you will do. Take a little baking soda and mix it with the castor oil to create a paste. Apply it to the affected area and cover with a band-aid. The typical time it will take is 2-4 weeks before the skin tag vanishes. You can add some drops of aromatic oil to combat the stinky smell.

Apple Cider Vinegar- Apple cider vinegar works very well for removing skin tags and the good news is that it could be found easily and it is fairly cheap. Just like tea tree oil, you simply dab some of it on a q-tip or cotton ball and apply it directly to the skin tag. Unlike the tea tree oil, Apple Cider vinegar may cause a stinging sensation for a couple minutes after being applied. It will take 2-4 weeks for the skin tag to vanish.

Discipline yourself, wait a couple of weeks while treating your skin tags at least once a day. It will naturally go. Why do I said so? It is because a friend of mine, an old woman in the writers club had successfully done it. Her luck could happen to you, too, who knows? It doesn’t worth that much, give it a try!

Skin Tags can be quite embarrassing for many people especially if they are in visible areas, but most people choose to ignore it. Skin tags can occur on the eyelids, under breasts, the groin area, under the arms, or on the neck.

Skin tag, known in medical term as acrochordon (plural acrochorda)  is a small benign tumor that forms primarily in areas where the skin forms creases, such as the neck, armpit, and groin, according to Wikipedia. They may also occur on the face, usually on the eyelids. Acrochorda are harmless and typically painless. Skin tags may become irritated by shaving, clothing or jewelry.

The do-it-yourself methods done at home using tools such as dental floss, nail clippers or scissors which can lead to bleeding, potentially compromising the skin and painful.

Most people could indulge in the typical way remove a skin tag with duct tape or fingernail polish. Yes, there are people with skin tags that claims these procedure do work but can be painful.

Have you experienced hiccups? I bet you’ll say yes. But have you ever wonder what causes it, why do we hiccup, or how we could stop it? My grandma often suggests that I should get scared or surprised abruptly to stop it whenever it becomes too persistent. It becomes embarrassing when it comes at the most inopportune time, like when you’re in front of your crush or with your date.

What are Hiccups-- Causes, Symptoms and RemediesHiccups is an uncomfortable, sometimes embarrassing, but usually short-lived experience. Sometimes hiccups persist for a long period of time and can be a sign of serious underlying disease. Brain trauma, spinal cord integrity, infections, lesions, central nervous system conditions, metabolic disorders, peptic ulcers and even anesthesia among others.

Hiccups are bursts of inspiratory (breathing in) activity. The muscles we use when we take in a breath are the intercostal muscles situated between the ribs, and the diaphragm – a sheet of muscle below the lungs.

This involuntary contraction causes your vocal cords to close very briefly, which produces the characteristic sound “hic”.

Most simple cases of hiccups come after eating or drinking too much or too quickly. The stomach, which is situated right below the diaphragm, becomes distended and irritates it. This will cause the diaphragm to contract, as it does when we breathe in. So no matter how hungry you are, how thirsty you might be, remember to chew your food slowly and take a gulp with interval.

Most causes of Hiccups includes:

  • Rapid eating
  • Carbonated beverages, alcohol, dry breads, and some spicy foods.
  • Laughing

Sometimes hiccups will occur because of a disturbance to the nerve pathways from the brain to the muscles involved. This explains why hiccups may occur with temperature changes or emotional situations. It is also the reason that a sudden shock can sometimes abolish an attack.

Signs and symptoms of Hiccups

  • A single or a series of breathing diaphragm spasms, of variable spacing and duration.
  • A brief (less than one half second), unexpected, shoulder, abdomen, throat, or full body tremor.
  • Hiccups might be easily heard as a chirp, squeak, “hupp”, or if controlled, a quick inhaling gasp, sigh, or sniff.
  • The victim might complain of brief but distracting or painful, frequent or occasional interruptions in normal breath, with sudden momentary pain of the throat, chest, or abdomen.

Persistent hiccups may signify problems in the brain, spinal cord or any of the structures around the diaphragm or chest wall.

Everyone has their own pet remedy for curing hiccups. Simply holding your breath is often effective. Breathing into a paper bag, the best remedy, increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the lungs, relaxing the diaphragm and halting the spasms.

Here are some of the methods of stopping hiccups.

Have you had a hiccup recently? What did you do? Feel free to share your experience and your own remedies.

Halitosis (Bad Breath)-- Causes and treatmentHalitosis refers to bad breath which is not only a sign of ill-health but it is also a social stigma. It is common in many people at all times and in all people some of the time. Unfortunately, most people who offend in this respect are completely unaware of their problem and the discomfort they cause to others.

Causes of Halitosis

The most common cause of halitosis is bad teeth and gum conditions. Dental decay at the roots of the teeth may result in abscesses in the gums with foul-smelling, pus giving an objectionable odour to the breath. Even small holes in the teeth may provide a place where germs can multiply and release foul odors.

Halitosis (Bad Breath)-- Causes and treatmentOther causes of halitosis are any conditions of the nerves, throat, respiratory tract, or stomach which are associated with chronic infection or local upsets of one sort or another, such as chronic tonsillitis, lung diseases like chronic bronchitis and bronchiectasis, chronic gastritis and sinuses which cause a discharge at the back of the throat. Most cases of bad breath, however, are caused by gastro-intestinal disorders, intestinal sluggishness and particularly by chronic constipation. The unpleasant odour results from an exceptionally large amount of waste matter expelled through the lungs. Chewing pan and tobacco and smoking are other causes of bad breath. The diseases like anemia may also lead to unpleasant breath.

Treatment for Halitosis

Halitosis (Bad Breath)-- Causes and treatmentIf halitosis is caused by tooth and gum conditions, tonsillitis, sinusitis, smoking or anaemia , these conditions must be treated. Once they are eliminated the bad breath will disappear. Similarly, bad breath resulting from gastro-intestinal disorders can be successfully treated by correcting these disorders and cleansing the system of morbid matter.

The patients suffering from halitosis should take a well-balanced diet consisting of seeds, nuts and grains, vegetables and fruits, with emphasis on raw and cooked vegetables and fruits.

In case of constipation, all measures should be adopted for its eradication. The patient should avoid reined carbohydrate foods, such as white sugar, white bread and products made from them as well as flesh foods and egg. Even whole grain bread should be eaten sparingly.

The patient should also avoid over eating of any kind of foods. He should eat six to eight soaked prunes and a few dried and soaked figs with breakfast. He must also drink the water in which these fruits were soaked. He should also take plenty of liquids and drink six to eight glasses of water daily. This will help eliminate bad breath.

The teeth should be cleaned regularly twice a day especially before going to bed at night. Metal particles should be removed carefully with toothpicks. In case of decaying teeth and swollen and bleeding gums, a dentist should be consulted. Munching a raw apple or guava after lunch removes most of the trapped particles. The use of twigs of the margosa (Neem) tree as toothbrush is the best method of cleaning the teeth.

Jojoba (pronounced ho-ho-bah) is an evergreen shrub that grows wild in the Sonoran and Mojave deserts of California, Arizona and Mexico. Jojoba oil is actually not an oil, but rather a wax ester, and it’s quite similar to your own skin’s natural oil (one of the reasons that jojoba is non-comedogenic).

Jojoba has so many uses, it’s a beauty staple you absolutely must have within reach.

Jojoba OilHere are five uses for jojoba oil:

1. Facial moisturizer. Add a few drops to your moisturizer to give your skin an extra boost of hydration. Some people even use it by itself as their only moisturizer because it’s the only thing that won’t irritate their skin. Since jojoba oil mimics your skin’s natural oils, you can actually trick your skin into thinking it’s already oily, and as a result it won’t produce as much oil!

2. Makeup remover, face & eyes. Even the most stubborn mascara will melt away. Rub the oil into the skin, then rinse and buff away with warm water and a wash cloth. Use as a cleanser/makeup remover alone, or follow up with your usual cleanser if you like more of a squeaky clean feel. PS – extra virgin olive oil also works well for removing makeup!

3. Conditioner, leave-in conditioner. Apply oil to damp hair, concentrating on the ends. Rinse out after ten minutes, or leave in. If you’re using it as a leave-in, only use a small amount of oil, just enough to coat your strands very lightly. If you suffer from a dry scalp, massage some jojoba oil into the scalp for relief.

4. Softening treatment for feet. Apply oil generously to feet, wrap in gauze, and put on your most cozy, fluffy socks. After an hour, remove socks and gauze and be amazed at how soft your feet are.

5. Massage oil. It’s perfect for sensitive skin, and especially people who are sensitive to the strong fragrances of other massage oils.

Signs and symptoms of avian influenza or bird flu typically begin within three to five days of infection, although in some cases it can be up to seven days. Symptoms usually last for up to a week.

Signs and symptoms of Bird Flu or Avian influenza infection

Avian flu or bird flu spread from bird to bird. Unlike human flu, H5N1 bird flu does not spread easily from person to person.

The very few cases of human-to-human transmission have been among people with exceptionally close contact, like a nurse caring for an infected patient, or a mother who caught the virus while caring for her sick child.

Bird flu, or avian influenza, causes symptoms such as fever, cough, and sore throat. Fever and body aches are common, some people also experience nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. And in a few cases, a mild eye infection (conjunctivitis) is the only indication of the disease.

In many cases, bird flu can cause rapid deterioration, pneumonia (inflammation of the tissue of one or both lungs) and multiple organ failure, all of which can be fatal.

The H5N1 strain is the most deadly type of the bird flu virus with 50 per cent of victims dying. H5N1 is a highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) virus. It’s deadly to most, but not all birds. And it’s deadly to humans and to other mammals that catch the virus from birds. Since the first human case in 1997, H5N1 has killed nearly 60% of the people who have been infected.

Because the disease has spread to wild birds, pigs, and even to donkeys, it will be hard, if not impossible, to eradicate. As of 2011, the disease was well established in six nations: Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

As long as the bird flu virus doesn’t change into a human flu virus, it won’t spread far in people.

The reported mortality rate of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in a human is high; WHO data indicate 60% of cases classified as H5N1 resulted in death.

Women should consider going bra-less and forget everything they’ve been told about bras. Researcher claims bras do more harm than good to women’s breasts.

A male researcher says 'bras' actually make breasts 'saggy'

A 15-year French study published on Wednesday reveals that wearing a bra does little to reduce back pain and they can actually make breasts sag more over time.

French researcher Jean-Denis Rouillon has claimed that bras may not be all that beneficial and women might actually be better off without them. he said ‘bras’ aren’t really needed and it might actually harm the women’s figure.

“Medically, physiologically, anatomically – breasts gain no benefit from being denied gravity. On the contrary, they get saggier with a bra,” University of Besançon professor and sports science expert Jean-Denis Rouillon tells France Info radio on Wednesday.

All women who were part of the research were told not to wear a bra for varying lengths of time, between a few months and several years.
Rouillon used a slide rule and caliper to measure changes in the orientation of 130 women’s breasts at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (University Hospital) in Besançon.
Rouillon said the preliminary results of his marathon experiment would initially indicate that “bras are a false necessity.”

“The first results validate the hypothesis that the bra is not needed. Medically, physiologically, anatomically, the breast does not benefit from being deprived of gravity.”

‘Absence of a bra could keep breasts in shape’ and prevent back ache, Rouillon added.

The researcher says “About 42% of the women felt discomfort for the first three months of not wearing a bra, but then it disappeared. None were in pain, however, nor were they hampered from doing daily activities – including sport.”

“The decision not to a wear a bra appeals to women in terms of comfort and aesthetics. Contrary to popular belief, the breast does not fall, but tightens and lifts, and the quality of the skin improves,” Jean-Denis Rouillon explained.

One of the participants, a 28-year-old woman who has not worn a bra for two years, appears to agree with the study findings, saying she experienced “multiple benefits and have less back pain.”

WASHINGTON – Green tea and coffee may help lower stroke risk, especially when each is a regular part of a diet, according to a Japanese study.

Study says Green tea and coffee may help lower stroke riskGreen tea and coffee may help lower the risk of stroke, especially when both are taken as a regular part of the diet, according to a research published on Thursday in Stroke: Journal of the American Heart Association.

“This is the first large-scale study to examine the combined effects of both green tea and coffee on stroke risks,” said Yoshihiro Kokubo, lead author of the study at Japan’s National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center.

“You may make a small but positive lifestyle change to help lower the risk of stroke by adding daily green tea to your diet.”

Researchers asked 83,269 Japanese adults about their green tea and coffee drinking habits, following them for an average span of 13 years. They found that the more green tea or coffee people drink, the lower their stroke risks.

  • People who drank at least one cup of coffee daily had about a 20-percent lower risk of stroke compared to those who rarely drank it.
  • People who drank two to three cups of green tea daily had a 14- percent lower risk of stroke and those who had at least four cups had a 20-percent lower risk, compared to those who rarely drank it.
  • People who drank at least one cup of coffee or two cups of green tea daily had a 32-percent lower risk of intracerebral hemorrhage, compared to those who rarely drank either beverage. Intracerebral hemorrhage happens when a blood vessel bursts and bleeds inside the brain. About 13 percent of strokes are hemorrhagic.

Study says Green tea and coffee may help lower stroke riskParticipants in the study were 45 to 74 years old, almost evenly divided in gender, and were free from cancer and cardiovascular disease.

During the 13 years of follow-up, researchers reviewed the participants’ hospital medical records and death certificates, collecting data about heart disease, strokes and causes of death. They adjusted their findings to account for age, sex and lifestyle factors like smoking, alcohol, weight, diet and exercise.

Tea and coffee are the most popular drinks in the world after water, which suggests that these results may also apply in America and other countries, the researchers said.

It’s unclear how green tea affects stroke risks. A compound group known as catechins may provide some protection, according to the researchers.

Catechins have an antioxidant anti-inflammatory effect, increasing plasma antioxidant capacity and anti-thrombogenic effects.

Chemicals in coffee include chlorogenic acid, thus cutting stroke risks by lowering the chances of developing type 2 diabetes.

Aphrodisiac. Foods that will drive you wild!

Sex drive has usually biological, psychological, and social components. Biologically, levels of hormones such as testosterone are believed to affect sex drive; social factors, such as work and family, also have an impact; as do internal psychological factors, like personality and stress.

Improving Sex drive in women naturallySex drive may be affected by medical conditions, medications, lifestyle and relationship issues. A person who has extremely frequent or a suddenly increased sex drive may be experiencing hypersexuality, but there is no measure of what is a healthy level for sex.

A person may have a desire for sex but not have the opportunity to act on that desire, or may on personal, moral or religious reasons refrain from acting on the urge. Psychologically, a person’s urge can be repressed or sublimated. On the other hand, a person can engage in sexual activity without an actual desire for it. Males reach the peak of their sex drive in their teens, while females reach it in their thirties. Multiple factors affect human sex drive, including stress, illness, pregnancy, and others

Lack of sex drive is common in women, but quite rare in men. An astonishing 43 per cent of females lack sex drive.

  • Vegetables: Some vegetables contain hormones and minerals that can increase sex drive. Hot chilies increase blood circulation to female sexual organs, making them more sensitive. Asparagus contains Vitamin E, which helps the body produce hormones like oestrogen and progesterone. It is also a good source of foliate, which is necessary for histamine production — a necessity for reaching orgasm.
